Curriculum Enrichment Support

A parent or team of parent volunteers collaborates with the administration and teachers to provide fun and meaningful assemblies and presentations for the students. The PTC budgets for several programs throughout the school year.

The Avoca School District allows students to join the strings program as early as first grade. Students can join at the beginning of the year, at any grade level, provided we have room. Band is offered for 4th and 5th grade students. Contact the office to speak to the strings or band teachers.

There are usually 2-3 room parents per class who help arrange volunteers for various programs and parties. They also handle communication between the PTC and the class parents. A room parent orientation meeting is held in August just prior to the start of school.

Art Smart is a parent initiated enrichment program designed to provide a means of learning about a variety of artists and developing an appreciation of fine art. The PTC provides all the resources volunteers need to create a meaningful experience for their child’s classroom. Parents arrange timing, frequency and artist choice with the classroom teacher.
